HAND-PAINTED TILE

Create an exciting, lasting, functional piece of ceramic art! During this class, artist Patricia Gawle will help you to create your own masterpiece. You will learn how to design, transfer to tile and paint with ceramic glazes. You will have the opportunity to work with a master tile painter on your own tiles or tile insert. CERAMIC / CLAY SCULPTURE

Cost: $200. U.S.D. for 4 CONSECUTIVE SESSIONS plus $10.00 firing fee. OPEN STUDIO at $60.00 U.S.D. per class... $25.00 U.S.D. Per hour... plus a $25.00 materials/firing fee

Form clay into a unique, sculptural/functional masterpiece of your own creation and imagination. During a 4-session workshop you will learn wedging, slab rolling, pinch pot and coiling. Patricia will also cover a number of decorative techniques, including ceramic glazing, non-fired finishes, adding mixed media to your work.

OR choose to join me for OPEN CLAY STUDIO where you will have the opportunity to explore the medium of clay with my guidance, or further your existing knowledge using my studio, tools, supplies and kiln. Also offering week-long Clay Art Adventures

DRAWING CLASS

Kathleen Carrillo is a professor of fine art and has taught classes in drawing and figure drawing for over 20 years. Learn new ways of seeing and use practical exercises to learn to draw better. Figure drawing with live model will be offered when models available.

PRINTMAKING

Join Kathleen Carrillo....Create one of a kind prints, with a press, using oil or non-toxic inks and non-toxic clean-up. Make a journal of your Puerto Vallarta visit using prints created in this class. Explore the painterly approach to printmaking, or explore a multi-layered transparent ink print. Both approaches teach you techniques that create suprises everytime you pull a print.

SCULPTURAL ASSEMBLAGE

Kathleen also offers creating a personal shrine through the magical medium of sculptural assemblage using found objects and foam core. Go on a scavenger hunt and find treasures to incorporate into a very personal expression of your trip or of some important event in your life. Use your prints created in the class to collage and add to your sculpture. Many ideas spring from the opportunities in this class.

OUTING DAY, VARIES - 9am - 3pm - With bilingual artist / guide Patricia Gawle we will take camera & sketch journal to visit the beautiful Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Skectch, take fotos, be inspired... after lunch we will head to the mountain town of EL TUITO to photograph or sketch the picturesque landscape while sightseeing the local streets. If time permits we will stop by the clay studio of Don Luis Solorio or French fabric artist, Lawrence Georges for a tour of her whimsical gardens and artwork. (accompanying spouse rate, if space permits)
